well, i guess you could say that a lot has happened since i posted last, but that would makes sense seeing as it has been over a month.

the biggest news is that after several unsuccessful Rock It!s in a row it has been cut back to a monthly event. the news really didn't come as much of a surprise, because the last three or so have really been sad as far as turnout goes. i don't know what it is about this town that makes people so apathetic, everyone says that school is the big problem, but i know that not to be the whole story. sure people go out more at the begininning of the quarter when they don't have any school responsibility. but with davis on the quarter system like it is, the begininning of the quarter is maybe two weeks long, get to the third week and people have midterms already. however, when i was an undergrad i remember plenty of people wanting something to do on a school night. which is the only night that Rock It will ever get a chance to be on, people (usually people who don't come out) always tell me that it would do so much better if it was on a friday or saturday night. while that might be the case, you are never going to convince a venue to book something that i consider a success when 60 people come out. but the most frustrating thing about the cut back is that everywhere i go, i see more hipsters in davis than there ever have been, this culture is exploding right now, and yet none of the so called hipster kids in davis have shown any inclination to get involved on any level. i guess they are too busy sitting in their dorm rooms chatting on myspace.

obviously i am kinda bitter about the whole Rock It situation, it has been a lot of work for me and at this point i am really not getting very much out of it, the same people come out every week, except that every week there are less and less of them.

we will see what january brings.
